WCSO: SUSPECT IN MULTI-COUNTY PURSUIT DIES AFTER SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT

A pursuit Tuesday evening that began in Washington County and involved multiple agencies ended with the suspect’s death following a reported self-inflicted gunshot.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded shortly after 7 p.m. to a weapon-involved situation in the 23700 block of FM 1155 East.

Responding units located the suspect’s vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, but the sheriff’s office says the vehicle did not stop, leading to a pursuit that traveled east on Highway 105 into Brazos County.

Authorities deployed a tire deflation system, which led to the vehicle going off the roadway and through a fence before stopping in a pasture.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect was found slumped over in the driver’s seat with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The suspect was airlifted by Washington County EMS to a trauma hospital in Houston, where the suspect was pronounced deceased.  The identity has not been released.

Assisting agencies included Texas DPS Highway Patrol, the Brenham Police Department, Navasota Police Department, and Brazos County Sheriff’s Office.  The investigation is being conducted by the Texas Rangers.
