BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL PRAISES ROBERTS AND EXTENDS HIS CONTRACT

  

Brenham Mayor Milton Tate and several members of the Brenham City Council praised City Manager Terry Roberts after they renewed his contract and gave him a pay raise at Thursday’s meeting.

Brenham City Manager Terry Roberts will continue in his position at least through January 31st, 2015.

The City Council renewed Roberts’ contract and increased his salary by $2000 to $143,000 a year after an executive session at Thursday’s meeting.

Mayor Tate released a statement saying he and the Council wanted to recognize Roberts for his work, for his dedication to the city and his efforts in guiding the city.  As for as the pay increase, the Mayor said Roberts was ‘well worth it.’

Councilman Keith Herring concurred with Mayor Tate, saying he wanted to support Roberts for his work on the interlocal agreements issue.

Councilmember Mary Barnes Tilley the salary hike was justified because it is in line with averages, too.

Roberts expressed gratification for his job extension and pay increase. The City Manager said it has been a privilege to serve, to live and work in ‘this special community.’

Roberts’ began his stint as Brenham City Manager in February of 2001, four months after the death of C.J. Webster. 

Roberts’ has worked as a city administrator in El Campo and San Marcos.  He is a graduate of Southwest Texas State(now Texas State).
