RETIRING WASHINGTON CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICER TO BUY DUTY-ISSUED FIREARM AT COMMISSIONERS MEETING
A longtime member of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office will soon be retiring.
Sergeant Investigator Damon Wegner is stepping down from the Sheriff’s Office, after 28 years of service. His retirement will be effective March 31st.
Washington County Commissioners will look at a request to allow him to purchase his duty-issued firearm at their meeting Tuesday. The purchase will be for $469, equal to the county’s purchase price.
County Judge John Durrenberger thanked Sgt. Wegner for his many years of work, calling him a “real asset to the county”.
Also at Tuesday’s commissioners meeting, the county will look at a salary request from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office is asking for a step increase in salary for a jail sergeant, after an initial 90-day employment period.
Commissioners will also consider approval of a lease amendment for Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace. In addition, they will hear a series of monthly reports.
Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m., at the Washington County Courthouse.
