“SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN” OPENS FRIDAY NIGHT AT NAVASOTA THEATRE ALLIANCE
The Navasota Theatre Alliance is set to present its next production, beginning tonight (Friday).
The gospel musical “Smoke on the Mountain” will take the stage tonight through Sunday, October 13th.
Presented with permission by Samuel French, Inc., the show tells the story of a Saturday night gospel sing at a country church in North Carolina’s Smoky Mountains in 1938. It features two dozen bluegrass songs played and sung by the traveling Sanders Family.
Pastor Oglethorpe, a young minister at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, has enlisted the Sanders Family in his efforts to bring his small congregation into “the modern world”.
