OLD NAVASOTA FUNERAL HOME CATCHES FIRE MONDAY NIGHT
An old funeral home in Navasota, set to be auctioned off Tuesday, caught fire Monday night.
Firefighters were called to the scene, around 8:00 p.m. in the 1200 block of S. Lasalle Street.
The building is the home of the former Jones Funeral Home and has not been in operation for several years.
Navasota police confirmed that the building was scheduled to go up for auction Tuesday, after the owner reportedly fell behind on paying property taxes.
Firefighters from Navasota, College Station and South Brazos County departments battled the blaze.
No injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
