SALES TAX REBATES DOWN FOR ALL LOCAL ENTITIES IN APRIL
Sales and tax distributions were down across Washington County for the month of April.
Washington County’s April rebate was 16.7 percent down from last year, receiving $208,826 this month compared to $250,853 last April. So far in 2020, the county has received $994,062, down 6.1 percent from the $1,059,459 it had received through this point last year.
Brenham’s rebate in April was $475,493, a 12.5 percent decrease from the $543,746 it received last April. So far this year, the city has received $2,224,809, compared to the $2,227,680 it received through this point last year, a 0.1 percent decrease.
Burton received $5,576 in April, down 7.9 percent from last April’s payment of $6,059. To date, the city has received $27,505, 1.8 percent below last year’s $28,012 over the same time frame.
Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported the state paid out $701.8 million in April, down 0.5 percent from last April, but still up 5.5 percent for the year to this point.
