OVER 1,400 GRAMS OF XANAX CONFISCATED DURING DPS TRAFFIC STOP IN WALLER CO.
A traffic stop on Highway 290 in Hempstead Wednesday night led to the discovery of over 1,400 grams of Xanax.

At around 8 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a westbound 2019 Dodge Charger for a traffic violation. The trooper observed indicators of criminal activity, and a Waller County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit alerted to the presence of drugs.
A search of the vehicle revealed 1,440 grams of Xanax pills under the driver’s seat.
The driver, 24-year-old Courtney James-Varnell Organ of Austin, and the passenger, 20-year-old Atrell Lashawn Veal, also of Austin, were arrested for first-degree felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and taken to the Waller County Jail.
