BRENHAM MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELOR NAMED ESC REGION 6 COUNSELOR OF THE YEAR

Monica Fricke
(Brenham ISD)

A Brenham Middle School counselor has been recognized as the top counselor in her grade bracket by the Region 6 Education Service Center (ESC).

Monica Fricke has been awarded Counselor of the Year for grades 5-8 by the ESC, which serves 57 school districts and 11 charter schools in its 15-county area, including Washington County.  Fricke was nominated by Brenham ISD’s lead counselor, Julie Haferkamp.

Fricke says a mutual mindset of being a support system for students and staff members allows her and other counselors to succeed.

Fricke started in Brenham ISD in the fall of 2009, working at Alton Elementary School for six years.  She worked for a few other districts before rejoining Brenham ISD two years ago at Krause Elementary School and now Brenham Middle School.  She just completed her sixth year in counseling.

Fricke is grateful for the recognition, but says it would not be possible without her team.

Brenham ISD congratulates Fricke on the “very prestigious honor” and thanks her for her “hard work and dedication to our students and district.”
