BONNIE BRINKMEYER RUNNING FOR BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD
A longtime Brenham ISD educator has announced her candidacy for the Brenham School Board.
Bonnie Brinkmeyer is seeking election to the position formerly held by Mark Schneider before he resigned in May. A Brenham native, Brinkmeyer spent 38 years as a Brenham ISD teacher, HOSTS program director, assistant principal, principal at Krause Elementary and Brenham Middle Schools, and district director of curriculum, instruction, assessment and accountability. She retired in 2017 but remained a volunteer.
Brinkmeyer says she has a “kids first” philosophy and, if elected, will focus on making decisions that are for their benefit.
Brinkmeyer has served on the boards of the local Boys and Girls Club, the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, the Texas A&M Club and Aggie Moms, and is active with several other organizations. Since her retirement, she has also volunteered her time with the county Spelling Bee, Local History Day events and the Brenham ISD Anniversary and Distinguished Alumni Celebration.
Brinkmeyer says she wants to help the public trust the school system, feel welcome, and know their children are safe and getting the best education possible.
Brinkmeyer is one of five school board candidates who have filed thus far. Dr. Michael Altman and Kelvin Raven are running for re-election to their seats, while Artis Edwards Sr. and Kyle Hafner are vying for the seat currently held by Susan Jenkins, who is not seeking another term.
February 17th is the last day for candidates to file for a spot on the May 6th ballot.
