OVER 3,000 PARTICIPATE IN EARLY VOTING; ELECTION DAY SATURDAY

  

Early voting has wrapped up for the municipal, school board and Blinn Board of Trustees elections this Saturday.

According to data from Elections Administrator Carol Jackson, 3,026 people cast ballots during the seven days of early voting offered.  With there being 24,413 registered voters in Washington County, that is an overall 12.39 percent voter turnout.

The total is made up of 3,025 votes in the Blinn College election, 2,889 for Brenham ISD, 1,545 for the City of Brenham, 137 for Burton ISD and 19 for the City of Burton.

Comparing this year’s early voting to past spring elections, the May 2022 constitutional amendment election had an early turnout of 12.61 percent, while the Brenham ISD bond election drew 13.75 percent of registered voters early.

Meanwhile, in May 2021, the City of Brenham election had 9.99 percent participation in the early voting timeframe.  The Brenham ISD Board of Trustees election saw 7.05 percent of registered voters vote early.

The last day of early voting on Tuesday brought in 589 people to the Washington County Courthouse Annex.  That includes 589 Blinn voters, 562 for Brenham ISD, 279 for the City of Brenham and 27 for Burton ISD.  There were no voters in the City of Burton election. 

Anyone who has yet to vote will be able to go to their designated polling place on Saturday.  Five locations will be available: the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library, Washington County Expo Event Center, Brenham VFW Hall, Blinn College Student Center and Burton American Legion Hall.  Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
