HALLETTSVILLE BEATS WASHINGTON COUNTY 1-0 IN DOUBLE NO-HITTER GAME

Washington County Pitcher Kori Boeker and Hallettsville Pitcher Masyn Wimberley made history by each pitching no-hitters on Friday night, but only one would come out with the win. In this case, it was Wimberley and the Hallettsville Minor Girls as they beat Washington County 1-0 to win the opening game of the Texas East State Little League Softball Tournament.

Wimberley held Washington County to six base runners. Five came on walks, and one was on a hit batter. She also struck out twelve batters in the game.

Hallettsville also did not commit any fielding errors.

Boeker allowed just one unearned run in five innings pitched. Eight runners reached base for Hallettsville. Four reached on errors, while there were three on walks, and one on a fielder's choice.

Boeker did not allow a hit, and finished with seven strikeouts.

Hallettsville scored the lone run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. Baye Shimek reached on a walk, took second on a wild pitch, and then scored when Morgan Felsman reached on one of the Washington County fielding errors.

Washington County drops into the loser's bracket. They will play either Lumberton or First Colony in an elimination game tonight (Saturday) at 6pm.
