FILMING IN DOWNTOWN BRENHAM CONCLUDES FOR ‘ICK’ MOVIE

Film crews on Thursday shoot on Market Street,
outside of the Brenham Heritage Museum, for the
movie "ICK". Filming took place at several spots in
downtown for two days.

Film crews wrapped up their second and final day of work in downtown Brenham on Thursday for a movie slated to release next year.

The independent feature film, called “ICK”, is described as a comedy/monster movie in a similar regard to “The Blob” and “Ghostbusters”.  Crew members spent the last two days filming at several locations in downtown, which is helping to serve as the basis for the fictional town of Eastbrook that is featured in the movie.

The film’s locations manager, Brenon Hawley, said Brenham’s history and appearance make it a great setting.

Crew members move equipment as they prepare for
their next shot.

Hawley said there are 70 working crew members, with as many as 140 people on set once extras come into play.  The film is not tied to any major production studios.

Hawley said he has been blown away by the local reception and the willingness to help and support the movie however possible.  He wants to showcase the greater Houston area, and Texas in general, as a viable place for film and television productions.

“ICK” is under the direction of Joseph Kahn, a notable director of music videos and commercials for the last 20 years.  This is his fourth feature film.

Hawley says the movie, which will be PG-13, has a planned release window of late summer or fall of 2024.  The intent is to do local premieres for the places they film in and that supported them, with the ultimate goal of a nationwide theatrical release.
