A $1.1 million permit was issued for TGS Sports LLC to convert Schwartz, Van Dyke, Clayton and Stark Fields to synthetic turf, as well as to make drainage and electric improvements.

The city says the new turf will limit rainouts and ensure that games can be played, helping Brenham compete to host tournaments.

The project is being funded by Brenham Community Development Corporation sales tax revenue.  It is expected to be complete in early February.

Other notable permits issued in November include interior remodeling and additions at Brenham Dermatology, 1910 Niebuhr Street, valued at $796,648.  A $500,000 permit was taken out by Bluebonnet Electric to repave the parking lot and add additional parking at its facility at 2601 Longwood Drive.  There was also a $470,840 permit issued to H-E-B for a True Texas BBQ in front of the supermarket at 2508 South Day Street.

Twelve new homes were permitted for $2,335,747.  So far this year, 114 homes have been permitted for $15,954,459.

Thirty-six permits were taken out during the month of November for $6,462,139.  Last November saw a slight reduction in the number of permits, at 33, but the dollar amount was nearly double at $12,086,147.

So far this year, 379 permits have been issued for $43,484,200.  Through November 2022, the city issued 414 permits worth $65,364,096.
