SNOOK ISD HIRES NEW BAND DIRECTOR

  

The new band program at Snook ISD has taken a step closer to reality with the hiring of a band director. 

Snook ISD announced the hiring of Alan Perkins to oversee the program. 

Perkins has an extensive background in all aspects of band and drum corps, most notably as a former bandmaster for the Army/Navy Academy and judging in the Drum Corps International, Winter Guard International, Bands of America, U.S. Bands, and the Texas Color Guard Association.

He has also taught in schools in his native Ohio, as well as, California, and Texas.

Perkins has led bands from the 2A to the 6A level where they earned high marks in concert and marching competitions.

He is a graduate of Morehead State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Music Performance Degree and a Bachelor of Music Education Degree.

After that, he served as a graduate assistant in band and music theory at Ohio University.   

In addition to that, Perkins is also a concert French hornist, and jazz trumpeter.  He is also a published composer and arranger of music for concert, jazz, and marching bands.
