MULTIPLE FIRE DEPARTMENTS BATTLE BLAZE AT HOME NEAR OLD WASHINGTON

A home near Old Washington suffered major damage after a fire this (Tuesday) morning.

Shortly before 6 a.m., firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 18700 block of Sweed Road.

According to Washington Volunteer Fire Department Chief Chris Casada, the first arriving units found an unoccupied, single-story, wood-frame home that was fully involved.

Mutual aid departments consisted of the Meyersville, Chappell Hill and Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Departments.  Also assisting were the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and EMS, while an air trailer was on site to refill firefighters’ air packs with oxygen.

Casada said firefighters were able to knock down the fire quickly and save the home from being completely destroyed.

No injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
