MURPHY GAS STATION RENOVATION, NEW CAR WASH LEAD JUNE BUILDING PERMITS
Several commercial projects led the way for a large month of building permits issued by the City of Brenham in June.
The top individual permit went to Murphy USA for $998,500. The permit was for the demolition of the existing gas station at 2615 Highway 36 South, in front of Walmart, and rebuilding at the location with a new gas station and convenience store. Work is contracted to Ready Construction Services.
The second-highest permit was issued to Quick Quack Car Wash for $502,263 for the construction of a new car wash at 2950 Highway 36 South. Work is led by Lonestar Builders.
Another noteworthy permit last month went for interior remodeling of Starbucks at 111 Highway 290 West for $250,000, led by Jerry Kachel Builder.
Eighteen new homes were permitted for $3,117,952, the largest permit going for $395,000 for a home on Oak Hollow Lane. So far this year, 68 new homes have been permitted for $11,461,347.
June’s total was $5,450,586 on 32 permits, over three times the $1,695,441 from 25 permits issued in June 2023.
Through the first six months of the year, the city has issued 162 building permits worth $24,121,324. At this time last year, the city had 193 permits for $20,515,996. The city is currently on pace to exceed 2023’s full total of $44,202,794, achieved on 400 permits.
