SCAMMERS SOLICITING MONEY FOR FAKE BRENHAM SHRINE CLUB FUNDRAISER

  

The Brenham Shrine Club is warning the public of scammers who are using the organization’s name.

Aaron Curlee of the Shrine Club notified KWHI this (Friday) morning that the scammers are reaching out to local businesses by phone or email and asking them for donations to help with putting on a fall magic show. 

Curlee says the club is not hosting a magic show, and at this time the organization does not have any fall fundraisers planned.

Curlee says he first became aware of the issue on Thursday when his wife received a scam phone call.  He says the phone number used in that instance had a 903 area code.

Curlee has notified the Washington County Chamber of Commerce of the situation.  The Chamber posted a public service announcement this morning to offer additional warning. 

Anyone who receives a solicitation for money from someone in this manner is asked to report it to local authorities.
