FIVE WEEKEND CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to five calls over the weekend.

Shortly after 1:15 p.m. Saturday, firefighters were sent out to a crash in the 1500 block of FM 389.  They made location to find no fluids leaking from the vehicle and provided traffic control until wreckers could remove the vehicle from the roadway.  Once it was cleared, the department returned to service.

Two other calls came in on Saturday, both being fire alarms.  The first was around 7 p.m. at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, and the second was just before 8 p.m. at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street.  The first alarm was cancelled while units were enroute.  The second was triggered after a pull station was activated, so units reset the alarm.

Around 9:45 a.m. Sunday, BFD members were dispatched to a possible structure fire at BrenSha Heights Apartments, 101 East Airline Drive.  They made location to find nothing showing from a two-story apartment complex, but after investigating, found a microwave malfunctioning in one of the apartments.  Firefighters unplugged the microwave and advised the resident to contact the maintenance department before returning to the station.

At 8:15 p.m., the department responded to a crash in the 2300 block of Highway 290 West, but was cancelled while enroute after learning the vehicles involved were moved into a parking lot and off the roadway.
