ONE INJURED AFTER EXPLOSION, FIRE AT PROPANE FACILITY IN WALLER COUNTY

  

One person was treated for injuries after an explosion this (Wednesday) afternoon at a propane facility in Waller County.

The Waller County Sheriff’s Office said the explosion was first reported around 12:30 p.m. at the RapidXchange propane production facility, located at 30313 FM 529 in Brookshire.

The Waller County Fire Marshal’s Office and Office of Emergency Management said the injured victim transported themself to the hospital.  Fourteen people were evacuated from the building without injuries.  The office said there were no concerns with air quality, and no evacuation orders were issued. 

As of about 3:30 p.m., authorities said the building fire was out and the grass fire around the facility was fully contained.  Approximately 30 acres were involved in the grass fire.

FM 529 is closed between FM 2855 and Pattison Road, as units remain on scene.  The road is expected to open back up by 7 p.m.

Investigation is underway into the cause of the fire, but it is believed to be accidental.
