BLINN LIVESTOCK JUDGING TEAM PLACES FIFTH AT AMERICAN ROYAL
Blinn College placed fifth at the prestigious American Royal Livestock Judging Contest this week in Kansas City, Mo.
Blinn totaled 4,498 points, placing third in reasons, fifth in cattle, 11th in sheep and goats, and 12th in swine.
Individually, Lane Hogan stood out, finishing third high overall. He earned second in reasons and third in cattle. Grant Kubala also performed well, placing 11th overall, 10th in sheep and goats, 13th in reasons, and 16th in cattle. Owen Seidenberger rounded out Blinn’s top performers, placing 19th overall and securing second in swine.
“The American Royal is one of our five major national contests of the year, with 32 teams present in the junior college division this year,” livestock judging coach Adrian Austin said. “Any time the team can obtain a top-five finish at a national contest, we are exceptionally proud of their efforts.”
Blinn’s next contest is the Southern Stockman contest, hosted by Texas Tech University in Lubbock on Nov. 2.
Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program has one of the most active extracurricular programs in the state, including livestock judging, Agriculture Club, wildlife, agriculture mechanics, and horticulture. Blinn offers agriculture classes on all its campuses, with the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex on the Brenham Campus serving as the program’s hub.
