AUSTIN CO. PRECINCT 2 JP ELECTION AMONG AREA RACES OF NOTE

  

Voters in Austin County have one final opportunity tomorrow (Tuesday) to participate in several races of importance, including one for the seat for Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace. 

Following the resignation in April of Wilfred Krause, who had served in the post since being appointed in 2009, Republican Todd Morris was selected to fill the vacancy until the November election.  Morris is challenged by Wesley O’Brien Peschel, running as an Independent.

Morris is a native Texan with nearly 33 years of law enforcement experience.  He has worked as a lead fatality crash investigator with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and as a commercial truck inspector through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. 

Morris says he is constitutionally-minded with strong faith and a servant’s heart.  He feels those attributes, combined with his experience, provide a strong foundation to serve in this capacity.

Peschel is a longtime Austin County resident who has a 24-year career in public service, including over 20 years in the Houston Fire Department as a paramedic and engineer operator. 

Peschel says on his campaign page on Facebook that he is running as an Independent because there was not a primary for the public to vote in for this position.  He describes himself as a “true conservative, Republican, Christian, and constitutionalist” and as someone with strong work ethic, understanding of civil code and unbiased judgment. 

Voters who have not yet gone to the ballot box and still wish to do so will need to visit a designated polling place in their precinct.  Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
