GRASS FIRE, GAS ODOR CALLS TUESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department responded to two calls on Tuesday.
Around 2:30 p.m., units were dispatched to the 1800 block of Woodward Springs Road for a report of a grass fire. They arrived on location to find about a quarter of an acre on fire. Personnel used tank water from a booster truck to extinguish the blaze before returning to service.
Shortly after 8:45 p.m., firefighters received a report of a gas smell inside a home in the 800 block of West Jefferson Street. They arrived to find that a gas oven was accidentally left on, so they turned the knob off and ventilated the home. The City of Brenham Gas Department arrived at the location to double-check everything, and the fire department cleared the scene.
