CORPUS CHRISTI RAY RALLIES TO BEAT CUBS 7-6
The Brenham Cub Baseball Team dropped their second game of the Corpus Christi tournament in a heartbreaker last (Thursday) night to the Corpus Christi Ray Texans 7-6.
The Texans jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after scoring two runs in the first and two runs in the second.
The Cubs came back to tie it with four runs in the top of the third inning. Dalton Hart walked, Brody Tucker was hit by a pitch, and Drake Bentke drew a walk to load the bases with nobody out. Caleb Maurer came in to courtesy run for Tucker.
Landry Mendoza drew a bases loaded walk that allowed Hart to score. Cannon Credeur hit into a double play, but Maurer still managed to score. Luke Hardy followed with an RBI triple to drive in Bentke. Hardy later scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-4.
Brenham grabbed their first lead of the game with two runs in the top of the fourth. Hart led it off with a walk. Tucker bunted him to second. Hart then advanced to third on a wild pitch, and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Drake Bentke.
Later in the inning, Evan Curtis was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, which scored Landry Mendoza to make it 6-4 Cubs.
However, in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Texans walked it off with three runs as the time limit expired to win it 7-6. Hart took the loss after coming on in relief of start Brody Hemann.
Hardy's triple was the only hit for the Brenham. However, they also drew nine walks, and had five batters that were hit by a pitch.
