CUBETTES WRAP UP SUCCESSFUL LIBERTY TOURNAMENT WITH WIN OVER NORTH SHORE

The Brenham Cubette Softball Team wrapped up the Liberty Tournament with a 7-1 win over North Shore.

The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning. Stella Landry led it off with a single. Jacee Hegar came in to courtesy run for her. Avery Maurer reached on an error. McKenzie Tiemann would then followed with a two-run double to score Hegar and Maurer with the first Brenham runs of the game. Tiemann would later score on an RBI single by Kinley Antkowiak, which gave the Cubettes a 3-0 lead.

Brenham added a run in the top of the fifth as Maurer walked, and then scored on an RBI single by Antowiak to give the Cubettes a 4-0 advantage.

Brenham would get three more runs in the top of the sixth. Sarah Mabie led off the inning with a single. Liliana Gonzales came in to pinch-run for her. Kylie Baker attempted a sacrifice bunt, but wound up reaching on an error. Sloan Tucker hit a two-run single that scored Gonzales and Baker. Maurer would later single to left, which scored Tucker to give the Cubettes a 7-0 lead.

North Shore got one run in the bottom of the sixth, but it would not be enough.

Kylie Baker went the distance and struck out nine to get the win.

Next up, for the Cubettes, they will have a non-district game at Giddings on Tuesday at 5pm (4:35pm pregame on KWHI).
