FATAL ACCIDENT UNDER INVESTIGATION AT LAKE SOMERVILLE

  

Burleson County authorities are investigating the death of a 28-year-old man involved in an accident on Saturday at Lake Somerville.

Burleson County Sheriff Bill Rios said his office was notified around 9:15 p.m. of the incident, which occurred while a family was having a reunion at the lake.

According to Rios, the family was riding on personal watercrafts when the man somehow fell off of his watercraft.  The specific circumstances of how he ended up in the water are still being determined.

The Somerville Police Department was the first to arrive on scene and began performing CPR on the victim, who had already been pulled ashore by his family.  Paramedics arrived soon after and also attempted CPR.

According to Rios, a medical helicopter had been called to transport the man to a hospital, but it was dismissed, as he was already deceased.  His identity has not been released. 

Rios said the Somerville Police Department is handling the case.  KWHI has contacted the police department for additional information.
