BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO ADOPT NEW BUDGET, TAX RATE
The Burton School Board will take votes on Wednesday on the budget and tax rate for the new school year.
At a budget workshop in July, trustees reviewed a proposed budget with general fund expenditures listed at $11,401,555, which is down from the current adopted general fund budget of $11,684,832.
The proposed tax rate comes out to $0.8350 per $100 valuation, with $0.6250 for maintenance and operations (M&O) and $0.2100 for interest and sinking (I&S). The new rate would be lower than the existing tax rate of $0.9455, as the M&O portion would drop by $0.1105, but the I&S allocation would remain the same.
Also in session, trustees will consider the contract of Superintendent Vikki Curry, after an evaluation was performed at the board’s regular meeting earlier this month. They will also act on budget amendments for the 2024-25 year before possibly going into executive session to discuss personnel.
The board will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Burton ISD Administration Office.
