16TH ANNUAL LLOYD SAUNDERS MEMORIAL COOKOFF COMING UP SATURDAY

The 16th Annual Lloyd Saunders Memorial Cookoff is coming up this Saturday at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

The event is held each year to raise college scholarship money for past participants in the Washington County Fair Calf Scramble Program.

The cookoff includes chili, beans, and the chef’s choice, which must include spam.

This year, there is $500 in added money for the first place winners in chili and beans.

There are also going to be margarita, bloody mary, and cornhole contests.

Plaques and cash prizes will be given to the first thru fifth place finishers in the chili and beans contests. There are also going to be cash prizes for first, second, and third place in the bloody mary, margarita, and chef’s choice contests.

The Hospitality Award winner will get free entry into next year’s cookoff.

The deadline to enter is Saturday at 12 noon. The cost is $20 for each contest.

After the judging, contestants are encouraged to remain on the grounds for a live auction and a free dance.
