William “Bubba” Herrin has declared his candidacy to run in the March Republican primary election for the seat held by Candice Bullock, who announced last week that she would not seek re-election.

Herrin has lived in Brenham for over 37 years and has worked in the City of Brenham Street Department for upwards of 23 years.  He says his experience has prepared him to serve the needs of Washington County, through his knowledge of road construction, drainage issues, vegetation control, local and state signage, and working closely with local officials during emergency situations.

Herrin has supported and led many organizations in Washington County.  Some of his roles include being a past President of the Christ Lutheran Day School Board, former President and Vice President for many years with the Brenham FFA Alumni Association, past Vice President with the Salem Volunteer Fire Department, past President and current Assistant District Chairman with Washington County Go Texan overseeing three counties, and committee member and past President of the Washington County Fair’s Pet Show Committee for over 25 years.

Herrin believes his skills, leadership and work experience, combined with his customer service and working relationship with local officials, provide him with the knowledge to be a leader within his precinct.

Bubba has been married for over 35 years to Cassi Schramme Herrin, and they have two children, Brooke and Codi, along with a grandson.

Herrin is the third candidate to declare plans to run in the March Republican primary.  Local business owners Amanda Klehm and Jim Chisolm have also announced their candidacies.
