ROUND TOP FILM FEST OPENS THURSDAY
Tomorrow (Thursday) marks the launch of the 2nd Annual Round Top Film Festival.
Taking place through Sunday, the festival will feature over 40 film screenings, panels and special presentations.
The festival was co-founded by mother and daughter Shanna Schanen and Skylar Schanen with the goal of celebrating and inspiring the next generations of filmmakers. Festival Artistic Director Blair Hunt says the first installment last year was very well received and is excited to invite filmmakers and movie enthusiasts for another year of entertainment and education.
Film screenings will take place at Festival Hill and 550 Market, beginning at 6 p.m. tomorrow with “Adult Children”. The Festival Hill Terrace will be open before the screening for food and drinks at 3 p.m., followed by music from The Guzzlers at 4 p.m.
Some of the special guests slated to appear as festival jurors include actress Marié Botha, actress Mariel Hemingway, screenwriter Marc Klein, producer Meryl Poster and documentarian Leslie Zemeckis. There will also be several other experts offering insights into the film industry, tributes to outstanding professionals, and networking opportunities.
Hunt says as the event grows, a long-term goal is to become an Oscar-qualifying festival.
Festival passes and single-day passes are available online at https://roundtopfilmfest.org, along with a guide and schedule for all of the films being shown this weekend.
