LADY PANTHER BASKETBALL STAYS UNBEATEN WITH TWO MORE WINS IN CALDWELL

The Burton Lady Panther Basketball Team continues to rack up win after win, and are now 8-0 on the season.

On day two of the Caldwell Lady Hornet Basketball Tournament, Burton added two wins to their total. In the opener, the Lady Panthers beat Lexington 59-37.

Burton led after the first quarter 21-9. Lexington outscored them 17-15 in the second quarter, but the Lady Panthers still had a 36-26 lead at halftime.

The third quarter was close with Burton winning it 8-7, which increased their lead to 44-33. The Lady Panthers then put the game away with a 15-4 fourth quarter.

Mya Rodriguez led Burton with 15 points and eight rebounds. Harper Hodde finished with 13 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Leilah Ellis added 12 points and 13 rebounds. Val Hernandez also reached double figures with 11 points.

In the second game, the Lady Panthers beat Caldwell 46-22. Burton won the first two quarters 10-4 and 19-6, which gave them a 29-10 halftime lead.

The Lady Panthers also won the third quarter 9-7 and the fourth quarter 8-5.

Ellis led Burton with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Hodde had 10 points and 7 rebounds. Hernandez added 11 points.

The Lady Panthers wrap up the tournament this (Saturday) morning against Centerville. They were also supposed to play Hearne, but they dropped out.
