CHAD DISMUKES RUNNING FOR WASHINGTON CO. PRECINCT 3 COMMISSIONER
There will now be a contested race for Washington County Commissioner of Precinct 3, after a second candidate declared his intent to run in the March primary election.
Chad Dismukes has announced plans to file on the Republican ballot for the position, which is coming open after Kirk Hanath launched a campaign for county judge. Joining Dismukes in the Precinct 3 commissioner’s race will be Gil Janner, who announced his candidacy earlier this week.
A lifelong resident of Washington County, Dismukes began his career with Washington County EMS before joining the Brenham Fire Department. Following 15 years of service with the fire department, he transitioned to the Katy Fire/EMS Department, where he now serves as the Assistant Fire Chief of Operations. Throughout his career, he has dedicated more than two decades to volunteering with Washington County emergency services and the Washington County Fair.
Dismukes believes it would be an honor to serve the community and says his 25 years of experience in local government and emergency services gives him a comprehensive understanding of how to manage internal operations through a cohesive, team-focused approach. His background includes overseeing balanced budgets, construction and maintenance projects, and ensuring a safe, efficient workplace for all personnel.
Dismukes says he is committed to long-range planning and consistently operates within a balanced budget while guiding 5- to 10-year strategic initiatives. He says he is eager to build on the momentum of county departments working as a cohesive unit to strengthen services that residents rely on daily. Additionally, he states that his knowledge of the farm and ranch industry, combined with his operational experience of semi-trucks, heavy equipment and road and base materials, will prove invaluable in this position.
Chad and his wife, Amanda, have two daughters. He says in order to honor the principles and values that generations of community members and officials have worked hard to establish, he plans to retire from his current career to best serve the residents of Washington County.
The last day to file for a place on the ballot for the March primary election is Monday, December 8th.
