CHRISTMAS STROLL KICKS OFF FRIDAY IN DOWNTOWN BRENHAM

Brenham officially welcomes in the holiday season this weekend with the annual Christmas Stroll and Lighted Parade.

Downtown Brenham will be filled with holiday cheer today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) as families can look forward to holiday shopping, a concert, fun for the kids, and the lighted parade through downtown.

Vendors will set up today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the Jingle Bell Market at the Ant Street Inn, and from 3 to 6 p.m. at the First Friday Farmer and Artisan Market on the courthouse square.  The First Friday Market will feature live music from Phil N’ The Blanks.

The Nite Moves Band will perform tonight at 7 p.m. at “Cold Nights, Holiday Tunes”, a free concert in the Commerce Street parking lot.  The performance is sponsored by Emerson and Nextlink Internet.

Tomorrow, events continue with Breakfast with Santa, a ticketed event at The Barnhill Center where children can enjoy breakfast sponsored by McDonald’s in Brenham, kid’s activities, face painting and pictures with Santa.  Reservations are needed in advance and are still open for the 8:30 a.m. slot, but they are sold out for 10 a.m.

The Jingle Bell Market at the Ant Street Inn is open again tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

At 5 p.m., carolers and Girl Scouts will perform on the steps of the Brenham Heritage Museum, leading up to the beginning of the parade at 6 p.m.  The parade theme is “A Very Vintage Christmas”.  Afterwards, children can sit with Santa in Alamo Alley.

Starting at noon tomorrow, both Main Street and Alamo Street will be closed from South Market Street to South Austin Street.  Extended closures will begin at 4 p.m., as parade staging will take place along Main Street from Market Street to Chappell Hill Street.  Parade unloading will occur on Alamo Street from Market Street to Ross Street.  Roads will remain closed until 9 p.m.

A full schedule of events for the Christmas Stroll can be seen at https://jingle.cityofbrenham.org.

KWHI and KTEX-106 will broadcast from tomorrow evening’s festivities.
