ACCIDENT, GAS LEAK AMONG FOUR WEEKEND CALLS FOR BRENHAM FD
The Brenham Fire Department responded to one call on Saturday and three on Sunday.
Approaching 9:15 a.m. Saturday, firefighters were dispatched to the 1300 block of South Chappell Hill Street for a report of a gas smell inside a home. Members of the fire department and City of Brenham Gas Department arrived and found a small leak around the meter. The gas department repaired the leak.
At 12:15 p.m. Sunday, units were called out to the 900 block of East Academy Street for a tree limb on power lines. They made location and found a tree limb hanging from wires. The fire department stood by until the City of Brenham Electric Department arrived.
Moments later, BFD members received a report of a fire alarm at RR Donnelley, 1903 FM 389. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, and a walkthrough of the area did not find any signs of smoke or fire. The alarm had already been reset prior to the department making location.
Just past 4 p.m., firefighters went out to the 2800 block of Highway 290 East for a transportation incident. They found a two-vehicle accident with minor damage and assisted with patient care, returning to service after the roadway was back open.
