BRENHAM FD RESPONDS FRIDAY FOR CLEANUP AFTER ACCIDENT, FIRE ALARMS

The Brenham Fire Department was called out four times on Friday.

Just before 5:15 p.m., units were dispatched to Melcher Hall, 601 Prairie Lea Street on the Blinn College campus, for an alarm sounding.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, and a Blinn police officer informed firefighters that a hair dryer caused the alarm to go off.  The alarm was reset, and the department returned to service.

At 6:30 p.m., BFD personnel went out for a report of a transportation incident with entrapment in the 2600 block of Highway 36 South.  They found everyone out of the vehicles, but fluids were leaking, so the department cleaned the roadway.

Around 9:30 p.m., firefighters responded to the 200 block of Cornish Street for a gas smell outside a home.  The fire department and City of Brenham Gas Department detected nothing from the outside of the residence, and no gas was found on any monitors.

Shortly after 10 p.m., an alarm was reported at Brenham High School, 525 AH Ehrig Drive.  Firefighters found nothing on the outside of the building and no smoke or fire inside.  They determined a smoke machine caused the alarm to go off, so they reset the alarm.
