BRENHAM BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT APPROVES VARIANCE REQUEST FOR NEW HOME

The Brenham Board of Adjustment on Monday unanimously approved a variance request to accommodate construction of a single-family residence.

The applicant, Rivera Melendez, seeks to build a 2,300-square-foot home at 1201 Mangrum Street, but the proposal did not fit within the minimum required setbacks on the diagonal slanted lot.

The board approved a 5-foot side setback, where 10 feet is the standard, and a 17-foot rear setback, where 25 feet is the norm.

One comment of support was received before the meeting from Brenham ISD, whose Early Childhood Learning Center is located nearby at 304 Kerr Street.  No comments were made at the meeting.
