A new marker honoring the service and sacrifice of American Revolutionary War patriots is now on display at Fireman’s Park in Brenham.

The Captain Jabez Deming Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) dedicated the marker on Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Plaza, coinciding with the day’s Fourth of July festivities.  The marker commemorates those who fought 250 years ago to found a new nation and achieve American independence.

Washington County Judge John Durrenberger said the ideals this country was founded on were not easily won, and this plaque recognizes those who were willing to risk everything for a country they would never fully see themselves.
