BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO ACT ON PROCEEDING WITH RFQ FOR BALL FIELD IMPROVEMENTS

  

The Burton School Board will potentially take steps to make improvements to the baseball and softball fields at its meeting on Wednesday.

After holding preliminary talks on possible long-term safety and maintenance projects for the fields at its last meeting, the board will consider giving the superintendent the ability to advertise and issue a request for qualifications for construction management services.  Those services would include campus site restoration and cleanup, athletic field make-safe efforts, utilities, grading and site grading, and related site upgrades.

Trustees will also hold public comment related to Senate Bill 12 before voting to approve the certification of compliance with laws under Texas Education Code as enacted by the bill.  The laws pertain to parental rights in education, student clubs at public schools, and certain requirements and prohibitions regarding instruction, diversity, equity, and inclusion duties and social transitioning.

Other items will be approval of the school lunch charge plan and a slate of monthly reports, including a bond construction update.

The board will meet Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Burton ISD Cafeteria.
