WASHINGTON CO. FAIR JUNIOR LIVESTOCK AUCTION SETS NEW TOTAL SALES RECORD

  

The Washington County Fair’s Junior Livestock Auction on Friday set a new record for overall sales.

The unofficial total for the 260 lots in the auction was $1,525,700.  Last year’s record was set at $1,513,500.

Three new individual sale records were set, one in the Grand Champion lots and two in the Reserve Champions.  Altogether, the Grand and Reserve Champions sold for $166,750, consisting of $98,750 for Grand Champions and $68,000 for Reserve Champions.

Today (Saturday) concludes activities at the fair.  Events start at 8:15 a.m., with the livestock judging contest, followed by little wrangler hay hauling at 9 a.m., the country creations superior auction at 10 a.m., the commercial steer sale at 12:30 p.m., the colt sale at 1:30 p.m. and the commercial heifer sale at 2:30 p.m.

Also today will be the greased pig and hay hauling contest at 6 p.m., mutton bustin’ at 6:30 p.m., and rodeo with calf scramble and wild steer saddling at 7:30 p.m.

The day wraps up with music from Jackson Wendell at 7:45 p.m., Bottomland at 9 p.m. and Mark Chesnutt at 10:30 p.m.

KWHI will have live reports from the fair from 8 to 10 a.m., while KTEX-106 will be reporting live from 8 to 10 p.m. and introducing the performers.
