TXDOT URGING DRIVING SAFETY DURING NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATIONS
The Texas Department of Transportation is continuing its anti-drunk driving campaign, hoping it will help keep roads in the state safe.
They are trying to not only stop drunken driving but to prevent what is called buzzed driving as well.
Drunken driving fatalities increase on New Year's Eve, this year you will once again see electric signs on Texas highways and on television see law enforcement sending a stronger message to would-be drunken drivers.
The hard-hitting ad campaign aimed at stopping drinking and driving paints a picture of people who drink and drive as "total losers."
Across the country, cops are increasing their message to: "Buzzed driving is drunk driving." Meaning you don't have to be drunk, just a little buzzed to be arrested for driving while intoxicated.
From now until Jan. 2, troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are running enhanced patrols that put more officers on the road to catch impaired drivers.
Police say if you do get buzzed while enjoying New Year's Eve to call a cab.
