WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS HIGH-SPEED INTERNET EXPANSION
The Washington County Commissioners will discuss the expansion of high-speed broadband services during their meeting tomorrow (Tuesday).
The commissioners will consider an agreement with the Brazos Valley Council of Governments (BVCOG) for the expansion of high-speed broadband services to support the delivery of health care services.
The $22 million fiber-optic middle mile network, funded through the FCC’s Healthcare Connect Fund and the Brazos Valley Council of Governments, will first connect healthcare providers such as hospitals, schools nurses, and jail clinics.
The high-speed network, shaped like a figure eight, will run through Washington, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Leon, Brazos, and Robertson counties.
The Brazos Valley Council of Governments has worked towards creating the fiber loop for the past eight years.
In other business, the commissioners will:
- Hold a presentation to deliver a check by the Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce in support of the Washington County Emergency Medical Services station in Chappell Hill
- Proclaim May 21-27 as “Emergency Medical Services Week” in Washington County
- Discuss a memorandum of agreement between the Washington County Volunteer Fire Department and Washington County for the comprehensive exchange of services
- Consider the approval of a license agreement between ESO Solutions and Washington County EMS for Health Data Exchange software
- Discuss the approval of an amendment to the tower site license agreement between GTP Towers and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office
- Discuss two formal notice for utility installation: one on Mayer Cemetery Road and the other for Harmon School Road
- Consider a subdivision variance request for a land division fronting FM 594 in Precinct 4
