Shortly after 10:15 p.m. Saturday night, 24-year-old JaMichael Dijon Adams was arrested by Brenham police in the 1600 block of South Day Street for five active misdemeanor warrants: two counts of Driving While Intoxicated, Theft of Property, Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family Member, and Unlawful Restraint.

Upon arriving at the jail, Adams, according to Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak, refused to comply with commands from jail staff, which included the changing of clothing.  Hanak said Adams then became aggressive, striking a detention officer in the face and causing injury.  As other officers attempted to control Adams, the same officer then received an ankle injury.  Another assisting officer suffered back and leg injuries.

Once Adams was under control, both officers were taken to a local hospital, where one officer was treated for facial injuries and a broken ankle, while the other was treated for pinched nerves.  Both were later released.

Adams is now charged with two felony counts of Assault of a Public Servant, in addition to his five warrants.  He remains at the Washington County Jail, with bond set at $157,500.
