FIRST POSITIVE CASE OF COVID-19 IN FAYETTE CO.

A Fayette County man has tested positive for COVID-19.

Fayette County Emergency Management officials confirmed the county’s first case of the virus Friday in a man in his 60s.

Due to privacy concerns, officials did not disclose where the man lives or the status of family members.  However, they did say he is recovering at home under quarantine.

The man has been questioned by the Texas Department of State Health Services, who believes he was infected through contact with another person outside the county.  Officials said it does not appear the man had many contacts with people in Fayette County.

Thursday, Fayette County Commissioners passed an order restricting gatherings of more than ten people.  Thursday also saw Governor Greg Abbott implement bans and restrictions statewide.
