LEE CO. GO TEXAN TREASURER INDICTED, ARRESTED FOR THEFT OF PROPERTY FROM ORGANIZATION

The Lee County Grand Jury has indicted a woman serving as treasurer of Lee County Go Texan for theft from the organization.

53-year-old Cheryl Richardson of Lexington was indicted earlier this month for Theft of Property Between $2,500 and $30,000 from a Nonprofit Organization, a third degree felony.  She has been released on $10,000 bond after turning herself in to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

The indictment reads that Richardson unlawfully appropriated more than $2,500 but less than $30,000 from the organization “without the effective consent of the owner, and with intent to deprive the owner of the property”.  According to the indictment, the illegal activity began in December of 2016 and continued until March of 2019.

According to County Attorney Martin Placke, the case is set for pre-trial matters on June 30th at 9 a.m. in the Lee County District Court Building.

(The Lee County Sheriff's Office was unable to provide a mugshot of Richardson due to a camera malfunction at the time she was booked.)
