Wolff Companies held a virtual groundbreaking this week for Beacon Hill, a master-planned community to be located on 521 acres of land on the north side of Highway 290 between FM 362 and James Muse Parkway.

The development will include 270 acres of around 1,000 single-family homes from Long Lake Ltd., along with 251 acres of retail and business park.  Wolff Companies Chairman and President David Wolff said the multiuse space could include hotels, medical offices, multifamily housing, retail and grocery stores, logistics and manufacturing plants, and religious and educational institutions.

Wolff also announced the company had received TxDOT approval to implement access improvements to Highway 290 as part of the Beacon Hill project.  Joint funding from TxDOT, Wolff Companies, and the new Beacon Hill Municipal Utility District will be used to create an off-ramp west of FM 362 for a new Highway 290 interchange called Beacon Hill Boulevard.  A mile-long frontage road connecting Beacon Hill Boulevard to James Muse Parkway with a Highway 290 U-turn at the parkway is also planned.

TxDOT Houston District Engineer Eliza Paul said the interchange will not only serve Beacon Hill and the surrounding community by aiding traffic mobility, but will also create a “significant economic benefit,” opening up access to new sites for development.

Homes are expected to range from the low $200,000s into the mid-$400,000s.  Long Lake Ltd. is slated to begin building homes in November, with the first homes available in early 2021.
