BLUE BELL CELEBRATES NATIONAL ICE CREAM MONTH WITH NEW FLAVOR

July is National Ice Cream Month, something people here in Brenham should take special note of, because of our best known industry.

Blue Bell Creameries is announcing its way to celebrate the month by introducing a brand new flavor called Magic Cookie Bar, inspired by the popular desert of the same name.  This is a sweet ice cream loaded with graham cracker crusts, chunks of dark chocolate, roasted pecan pieces and toasted coconut, all surrounded by a caramel sauce.

President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month in 1984, by recognizing ice cream as a fun and nutritious food enjoyed by 90 percent of Americans.  The 40th President urged the people of the United States to celebrate with ‘appropriate celebrations and activities.’

Every year since then, in honor of National Ice Cream Month, Blue Bell Creameries, the third best selling ice cream in the United States, introduces a new flavor.

The magic cookie bar dessert debuted in the 1960s and now Blue Bell has put its own magical spin on the treat. The recipe, in its simplest form, involves the layering of six ingredients: melted butter and graham cracker crumbs are mixed to form a crust on the bottom of the pan.  A can of sweetened condensed milk is poured over the crust and then chocolate chips, flaked or shredded coconut, and chopped walnuts or pecans are layered on top.
