BRENHAM WOMAN VICTIM OF PHONE SCAM
Brenham Police are warning the public after a local woman became the victim of a phone scam.
The woman says she was contacted by phone about an outstanding loan and was told she had to pay $3000 immediately.
The woman says she then went to a local store and purchased $3000 worth of Money Pac Cards. She then called back the scammers, giving them the ID numbers on the cards.
After several days the woman became aware that this was a scam and that her $3000 was gone.
She contacted police Wednesday and they have started an investigation.
Authorities are urging anyone who gets such a call to immediately contact police.
