ERRORS COSTLY AS MAGNOIA WEST RIPS CUBETTES, 11-4
One excruciatingly long inning sunk the Brenham Cubettes’ efforts to knock off first-place Magnolia West, Saturday night.
The Lady Mustangs (16-4/8-1) scored eight times, ripping six hits and taking advantage of four Cubette errors, en route to an 11-4 win at Alumni Field.
The Cubettes (10-10/3-6) trailed 2-0 when eight of the first nine Magnolia West hitters reached base—either by hit or error. By the time the dust settled, the Lady Mustangs had a 10-0 lead.
The Cubettes answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, keyed by a 2-run triple by Autumn Pauler, who scored on Reagan Kwiatkowski’s single, two batters later.
Pauler would add another run in the bottom of the sixth with a solo homerun, her first of the year.
Macie Becker took the loss in the circle, dropping to 3-3 on the season, as she pitched the first 3-2/3 innings. Megan Morris pitched the final 3-1/3 innings.
The Cubettes will be on the road Tuesday night as they travel to Waller for a 7:00 district ballgame.
