GROUNDBREAKING HELD FOR NEW BRENHAM INDUSTRY

The groundbreaking ceremony was held this (Wednesday) morning for a British based corporation locating a manufacturing plant in Brenham.  Precision Polymer Engineering, which produces rubber seals primarily for the oil and gas industry, has enlisted GSL Constructors of Houston to construct the building.  The new thirty thousand square foot facility will be located at 3201 South Bluebell Road in the Brenham Business Park.

Paul Gillyon, Managing Director of PPE, said that Brenham’s proximity to Houston, along with the quality of the workforce, attracted his company to locate here.  He also stated that the goal is to have the new facility completed and producing by November of this year.

PPE plans to employ 22 local workers in the first year and eventually 60 employees, providing a healthy boost to the local economy.  The Brenham City Council  and the Washington County Commissioners created a tax reinvestment zone for PPE in January.  That will give PPE a tax abatement for several years.

Attending the groundbreaking were officials from Brenham and Washington county, the Brenham Economic Development Foundation , Chamber of Commerce and Blue Blazers, Bluebonnet Electric, Blinn College, and other businesses located in the Brenham Business Park.
