A&M ADDS TRANSPORTATION INSTITUTE TO RELLIS CAMPUS

Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp and the A&M Transportation Institute celebrated a milestone at the RELLIS campus, Thursday.

Construction has begun on the 179,000 square-foot building that will be the new TTI Headquarters, a $70 million construction project.

TTI will be the first A&M System institution to locate its headquarters at the RELLIS Campus.

TTI Director Gregory Winfree says with state of the art facilities, he believes they will discover breakthroughs that will save more lives on the road.

According to Winfree, it will be the first time since the 1950s that all 450 of their staff members in Bryan and College Station will be in one location.

Sharp said combining TTI and the Center for Infrastructure Renewal side-by-side, it's going to be a transportation behemoth.

Winfree said with new technology and facilities, more research will be done than ever before at the new headquarters.

Sharp said adding the headquarters to RELLIS says a lot about what is yet to come.
