BIZARRE ACCIDENT CLAIMS TWO LIVES NEAR LAKE SOMERVILLE

Two motorcyclists are dead after an accident late Sunday in Washington County near Lake Somerville.

62-year old Thomas Lee of Somerville and 67-year old Herbert Preston of Magnolia were killed in a bizarre accident involving a deer.

According to Corporal Jimmy Morgan of the Department of Public Safety, the two were east bound on FM-1948 on their Harley Davidsons, when a deer jumped out into the road, striking Lee’s motorcycle, causing him to crash to the ground.

Preston then struck Lee’s motorcycle sending him careening into a ditch.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Douglas Zweiner.
